May in Peony Time

A clematis that grows near our bluebird house. The bluebird house has about 5 eggs inside. Bluebirds will build a nest and lay eggs twice a year in the bluebird house. It is a myth that you cannot touch bird eggs. Birds cannot smell so they have no idea if you have touched their eggs or not. Although, it is still not a good idea to mess with nests b/c the mama bird is probably nearby watching you and will not like it if you mess around.

There are only white peonies blooming right now. Soon, pinks and fuschias will be blooming. In May, I fill the house with fresh cut flowers. There are just so many peonies blooming that you just might as well bring some inside. Also, cutting the flowers helps the bush - there are so many blooms that many will drap and droop on the ground if you don't lighten the weight of the stems.
